Banyak yang takut to say ‘no.’
Kenapa?
Mungkin karena dari kecil ‘no’ is mostly used in a negative context. Like our parents saying ‘no’ to us growing up. And of coz when we say ‘no’ to green veggies, bath time or bedtime.
It’s simply frowned upon to say ‘no.’ Saying no makes us sound/look like a “bad girl.”
So let’s fast forward to you TODAY!
This modern-day woman who juggles everything from kids, work, housework, relationship, school and so many more.
You are pulled, required, requested, asked for, needed, in so many different ways/directions, left and right, top and bottom.
Your kids need you, your parents need you, your spouse need you, your partners need you, your boss need you, your team need you, your friends need you, your family need you, and they all expect you to do something for them.
If you keep on saying yes to everyone and everything, what do you think will happen to you?
You’ll be kaput! Burnt out!
So create boundaries. One of the simplest ways to do this is by saying ‘no’
Next time someone asks you for something or to do something, a favour or help, and you don’t have the space/time/energy to entertain it but feel bad to say ‘no,’ stop a minute and ask yourself does this thing you’re about to do for them support your health & well-being?
If you’re too tired, too exhausted, and too overworked to take it on, just say ‘no.’ Don’t keep on saying ‘yes’ simply cuz it’s the nice/right thing to say.
A few ways to say ‘no’ nicely:
• Gosh, that sounds great, but I’ll be (insert an activity) then, perhaps next time
• I would if I could, thing is I’m already doing something
• I can’t today, can we do a rain check?
• I feel you, but I’m actually working on some issues myself at the moment
• Ah yes, cleaning/laundry/dishes/cooking obviously need to be done, perhaps we can take turn doing it as a family?
Remember to put you & your health & well-being 1st, always! In case of oxygen drop, you’re instructed to put your oxygen mask 1st before helping others with their oxygen mask, right?
Show some 🤍 if you agree with this!
