What I Wish Everyone Knew About Qi Gong

I’m thanking Mas David tersayang for introducing me to qi gong. It’s such a mellow and chill exercise that combines gentle movement and breathing. Which I love, love, LOVE.

I’ve been doing qi gong routinely for about 3 years now and I have ONLY good things to say about it.

By nature, I’m quite an intense person. I can’t really “chill” like most people do. Even my daughter keeps telling me to “chill.” I get excited and worked up quite easily. I have this nervousness that is built in. So hey, to balance this, I know that it’s up to me to work on incorporating gentle and mindfulness practices into my day.

One of them is qi gong. It’s just amazing how this ancient practice really does my body (mind and spirit too) good!

It’s calms my nervous system, but it’s enough of a work out to get my heart rate up, I can feel my blood and oxygen flowing as well. I’m more focused and energized during the day.

One of the things that I’ve learned over the years is that when it comes to exercising, it’s not about intensity, but it’s more about consistency.

I have seen this with my husband as well. He lost 8kg in 2 & a half month once he incorporated qi gong into his daily routine. Weight that he had a hard time loosing in the past. He ditched the intense workout, giving his body a break from doing exercises that pushed his body to a point of stress, therefore adding more stress to his body and initiating more stress response as well (so many stress in that sentence just now).

This is proof, that with everything, be it weight management, hormone imbalances, gut issues, or any other health issues, stress management is KEY.

If Jedi Master Yoda had anything to say about stress, it may go something like this “manage it and open it shall.” (“It” being the door to health & wellbeing)
